Tired driving is impaired driving

Royal Motoring School · 2 July 2026

Fatigue slows reactions, narrows attention and eventually forces micro-sleeps — seconds of unconsciousness you don't even notice. After a night shift or a bad night's sleep, you are measurably impaired behind the wheel.

The fixes are boring and effective: don't schedule lessons or long drives when exhausted, share driving on longer days out, and if drowsiness hits, stop somewhere safe. Fresh air and coffee buy minutes, not safety.
