Surviving summer behind the wheel

Royal Motoring School · 28 June 2026

Summer driving in Malta means fierce glare, scorching cabins and traffic thick with visitors. Keep sunglasses in the car, use the sun visor properly, and give your air conditioning a minute to make the cabin humane before setting off.

Heat also shortens tempers — yours and everyone else's. Expect hesitant hire cars, double-parked deliveries and crowded coastal roads, and build in the extra ten minutes so none of it rushes you.
